UK PPG NATIONALS ANNOUNCED

The UK Paramotor Competition Committee is pleased to announce that the 2008 UK National Paramotor Championships will be held at Northrepps Aerodrome near Cromer in Norfolk from Saturday 31 May – Tuesday 3 June – a week after the Bank Holiday. The tasks will conclude at 12 noon with results and presentations following.

Chris Gurney of Northrepps has generously offered to host the event at the new Northrepps site just 5km SSE of Cromer (see www.northreppsaerodrome.co.uk). The Committee asks that pilots don’t fly the area any more than they normally would in advance of the event, mainly because we don’t want to cause any unnecessary trouble for Chris and the local pilots who’ll want to fly there long after we’ve gone, but also in the interests of fairness. Google Earth offers a great facility for a virtual exploration of the area!

Following on from previous events, the theme of the competition is that it should be Safe, Fun, Simple & Fair. The format will be similar to the 2007 event with families and visitors very welcome. There’ll be camping onsite with food facilities, toilets and washing facilities. For those thinking of bringing the family or adding the comp onto a holiday, local attractions include fantastic beaches, stately homes and amusement parks.

We’re expecting a number of the top international pilots to attend as guests and as ever, we welcome new pilots to participate (subject to minimum hours). As the primary selection event for the British Team, the organisers hope to introduce some tasks that will include an added layer of complexity for those who want it, but still allow those who don’t, to fully take part and enjoy the experience.

There’ll be prizes for first, second and third placed UK pilots, top female pilot, best placed overseas pilot and a Newcomer’s trophy.

Less than five months away, this is the major event to look forward to. Whether you’re competing, meeting up with old friends or coming to find out more about our great sport, this promises to be an excellent event and a real highlight of the UK paramotoring calendar.
